Whoa sorry about the non-replying. Just completely went out of my mind.
I want to build this computer so that there is huge expandability in mind, so if that means buying more expensive stuff so that I don't need to buy it later (where I will probably have less cash in my pocket) then I'll take the stuff. So when the future comes and there are more power-hungry stuff with lots of weird stuff required, I'll be ready . And I want to try a ati/amd combo as I've never had a combination in my house before and they seem to have good products.

    Commence the burning!

You've asked for advice and got some, if after that you still want to go and build with amd then you will still have a great pc, just not as good as the equivelant intel for the price.
As for the issue of downloading an OS, with the price of OEM copys it's not worth it to miss out on the updates from MS, especially if your going with vista.

It's kinda crazy to go with something just for the sake of it.

    Intel's C2D is faster than AMD's AM2.
    nVidia's 8800GTS is faster than ATi's HD2900XT.

Both are fact, why not take advantage of it?
