How far does your 4300 go?

Just a question to all 4300 owners out there.

How far have you got it to go?

I can get 3.15, but get a bsod with Orthos within 20 secs. Seems fairly stable at 3.06. But I'm just using cheapo 667 ram, so I'm sure that's part of the problem, but I'm interested to see how others have got on.

3.6 was the highest stable on mine, it just seemed to stop there, regardless of voltage.

Hi there , Well just checked mine and I have it sitting at 3.150. Using 6400 at 1.1 as per 'clunks' oc guide. Never tried to go futher ATM . Just poke it up a bit when I feel the urge. My case is not the best and my airflow is poor as I am just using ac7 fan plus an 80 extractor .

Is it worthwhile getting 8000 or 8500? it's a big leap in price, but I suppose a better long term bet? Or is it pointless spending too much and instead going DDR3 at a later point?

8500 is pointless, I bought some and regret it tbh. Even if you go to 3.6 with an E4300 you'll only be at 800mhz on the ram 1:1. Mine will do 3.6, but the heat is huge, so i usually run it at 3.3 or 3.0 purely for silence.

mine is currently running at 2.97GHz at ~1.35V, what voltages are people using for higher clocks?

My board is on auto - but CPUz says 1.392. I tried mucking about with voltages today, but didn't get very far.

Never use cpuz for monitoring voltages, it doesnt work properly.

Asus probe will probably be closer.

My board doesnt seem to like auto volts, it just sets it to 1.3. Had to set manually to go any further. Just failed orthos on auto.

Using Clunk's guide I have managed to get 2.7Ghz using 800Mhz memory. I'm too scared to push it any further!

My new E4300 is sitting happy at 3ghz with stock volts, running Corsair XM2 5400 at stock speeds. That was always my plan, run the 5400 RAM at 1:1 to get to 3ghz. I need to run it through the testing mill properly, but it's nice to know I've still got volts to play with should I need to. Apparently that Corsair RAM can hit 800mhz quite easily, so there's potential there as well! Might just stick with 3ghz though. This is on a P5K Deluxe by the way, bloody nice board Clunk, when did you have to start upping vcore from stock to get to 3.6ghz?

Mine was quite a voltage hungry chip.

I cant remember what it did in stock volts, I think it may have been around 3ghz, after that, it needed a good kick in the arse. Have a look in the E4300 overclocking thread, there should be plenty of info
