Any issues connecting an AV amp / receiver to an X-Fi sound card?

Hi all.

I'm a complete noob at home hi-fi and I have a couple of questions. I'm looking at the Denon AVR1507 and the Wharfedale 9.1 Diamond bookshelf speakers as a starter setup for music and games through my PC (from Richer Sounds). I will expand this later with satellite speakers and a sub for 5.1.

My questions are:

- with the above kit will there be any issues connecting the X-Fi Xtreme Music to the Denon receiver and would I be best off doing it through optical
- if I connected through optical would EAX still work and would there be any conflict between the Denon's processing and the X-Fi's?
- what else should I watch out for with what I want to achieve and how is my choice of kit?

IMO its proably more sense and maybe cheaper to get a 5.1 system like the logitech Z5500. AFAIK the x-fi will prefer to use 3x phono analogue connection just like my audigy 2 zs. http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?quicklinx=3TM3
