    Question X800 GTO2 and A64 3000+ Upgrade Advice

    Hey all,
I need some advice please, my Shuttle ST20 with X800 GTO2 and A64 3000+ is starting to look a bit dated.

I'm busy playing Overlord at the moment (at 1680 x 1050) and my system is having a few problems at medium graphics settings.

Can anyone suggest some upgrade advice please? (I'm looking to spend around £150)

    Thanks,
    Leon

Uhm - How much RAM do you have?

I'd look at getting an X1950 Pro....

    David, I have 2GB.

Also, I should have mentioned, I run Vista

Edit: Also the graphics card needs a normal sized cooler as it has to fit in my shuttle.

thats a lot of resolution ..... specially for an X800 GTO.

As David said, an X1950 Pro...or maybe a proper X1900 XTX second hand.

Agreed with the X1950 pro. You could go dual core... even if the game doesnt utilize it, it would take some of the stress from background apps and put them onto the spare core leaiving the game with the whole of the other core. Or you could just pick up a 3700+ or something.

These are off Ebuyer as scan only have optys for 939. However, I have an opteron and its definately worth considering.

You mean me well yeah i am but (with the exception of the 7900gs) for £150 on a 939 shuttle there isnt that much else that can be suggested.

My opinions on AMD are beginning to fall nowthanks to the flump that is the hd2*** series. If barcelona is good then they may just manage to pull me back in before i give in and C2 it

For £150, CPU and GPU, I take it you're thinking 2nd hand? Looks like the 7900 is a good option for space, otherwise I woulda said X1900XTX/X1950

Nice card there mate. I am actually tempted to go Nvidia this time as I've always had ATI cards.

    Thanks all.

(Sorry for back to back posting)

    Well using Zak's suggestion:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=488117 - £117.49

    And couple that with

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=494952 - £42.88

So over my £150 budget already!

But yes I will be keeping an eye out in the For Sale forum

I would not jump from a GTO2>79gs, I would consider the 1950. Did you manage to unlock your GTO?

    edit

    The above cpu is AM2
