4x1GB can put more of a strain on the chipset if you are overclocking as all 4 slots are filled. There was certainly a difference when i upgraded from 2x1gb to 4x1gb. However not sure how this compares to 2x2gb.

What difference? I'm curious to know as my finger is hovering over the buy more Corsair button.
