Using 5.1 Speakers as 2.1 Speakers?

Hello, I currently have a set of Creative P580 5.1 speakers. Obviously there are 5 speakers and a subwoofer in the set.

I am leaving temporarily and would like to take some speakers with me, would it be ok for me to take just the right and left speakers with the subwoofer as I have limitted space, or would I need to buy a new set altogether?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

It's fine ,i currently only use front left front right and sub of my creative 7.1 set as i mostly use my sennheiser headset and the wires looked messy and did my head in.

    Thank you for that.

Another thing is, it has those 3 coloured leads as input at the moment from my Audigy 4 sound card, but I will have my laptop and I guess that it will only have one of those earphones out, what do I do?

Ah if it's a laptop you will more than likely have to spend abit of cash. I'm not 100% sure so i'd wait for confirmation from someone abit more of a geek than me

Btw forum won't allow me to post links so you will have to add an extra w infront of the links

But i think you only have 2 (3?) options an external usb sound card such as the following
    ww.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=578963

which will set you back around 30£.

    New speakers such as

    ww.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=579440[/url]

which will set you back 13£ but won't sound as good as your current ones.

Or and i'm not sure if this is possible and i haven't found any cables that do it on a quick search a 3 to 1 audio cable converter.

I use 5.1's as 2.1's on my laptop. You just need the green jack.

Thanks for helping him i wasn't sure of the correct option as i don't own a laptop if it's as simple as this it will cost him nothing which is always a welcome solution.
