Any Other x38 motherboards that Take DDR2?

I have been looking at getting one of the new motherboards with the x38 chipset. However DDR3 is currently out of my price bracket so I was interested to read that the MSI X38 Diamond would be shipping with 2xDDR2 slots as well as 4xDDR3 slots.

Sounds like a good idea, use DDR2 now and wait for DDR3 to become more affordable.

Anyone know of any other boards that will be able to take both DDR2 and DDR3?

    Foxconn's.

Usually fitting both types results in poorer overclocking performance & of course with only 2x DDR3 slots you'll need to buy large DIMMs.

according to http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles...?cid=6&id=2378 the final X38 Diamond design only has 4 DDR3 slots though.

If I've learnt anything, it's that dual-slot boards are nothing but trouble, MSI boards even moreso. If you must buy now, go for DDR2, and if you're dead set on an x38 for whatever reason, wait awhile for motherboard manufacturers to churn out a decent range of boards. Honestly x38 right now wont give you much more than P35.

Yes, the more I read up on it, the more I think the x38/DDR3 boards are not worth the extra money. Not for a while anyway.

The Asus P5E with DDR2 looks good and the price from SCAN.co.uk is under £132.
