RE Opteron to power accurate reproduction of Vivaldi's Four Seasons?

just saw this on the main page:

Correct me if i'm wrong but who needs a DUAL OPTERON WITH 16GB OF RAM? (thats a minimum of 8 RAM slots...).

come on if i'm rendering music i'll use a server thanks. Sibelius runs fine on my sisters p3 733

this is a keyboard though - a server NEEDS processing power - as a said, raw speed is hardly a requirement of a musical instrument!

Heh, I think you mis-understand what the computer is doing, we're talking a computer playing the piece not a human, a human is much more powerful than that computer do we need that much power to play the piece?

TIG@ i get that but sibelius will playback a prerecorded piece just fine on a low powered pc - are you telling me that some crazy keyboard needs 2 top of the range processors?

it all just seems like an all in one piece of unecessary tosh. please correct me if wrong!

surely it depends on the soundcard being able to do however many simlutaneous midi channels at once? ie 64 or however many people they are gonna pretend are in the orchestra?

hehe.. so surely you could just get 16 machines (all of them 486 or such) with 16 channel midi soundcards, and get them a sibelius score with 16 instruments each, get 16 people to all click 'play' at the same time, and you save a few thousand quid

edit: actually looked at the front page now, but still, dont see the point in a keyboard with an opteron in it...
