No....not at that same low resolution.... the displayed 'space' will be the same but spread over a larger area, so will be bigger (ie the same size text will display larger), and as such will be less sharp. Yes at a higher resolution.
IMHO there is no point in having a 19" monitor and running it at 1024x768. The minimum you should run a 19" monitor is 1280*1024 (and even that is wasting it) and it will look much better, much sharper, and you will see more. A good 17" CRT will go well above 1280*1024... and as long as you can cope with small text, will look even better. A 19" will go for even higher resolutions, I used to run my Iiyma Vision Master Pro 454 19" CRT at 1600*1200 @120Hz and it would go right up to 2048*1536..... great for graphics stuff, but text was too small for me.

Try to make each and every day the best it can be.
I'm not sure thats always true. My old CRT was .28 dpi, but new 19" CRT's where .25 and some where even lower. And really, even side by side, a good 19" CRT at 1024x768, shouldn't look much different to a 17" at the same resolution. And it might not even be necessary if the PC can cope with a slightly bigger resolution.
That is true of a lot of large screens though really, even TFT's. You can get around by just increasing the DPI setting in windows. Its easy to do, just takes a few clicks.
The only downside is that I did notice a couple of web pages that weren't alligned perfectly due to that setting.

I was going to mention that (the dot pitch thing), but I assumed that 'all else being equal' was implied. Otherwise, there is also a difference between Aperture Grill and Shadow Mask displays.
