Hi, I'm getting desperate so I come here for help
In a nutshell I have an Asus BLT1814 (SATA) connected to my Abit IP35 Pro, 2GB balistic tracer ram and Q6600. I run WinXp all service pack and patches installed. My firmware and bios for all my hardware are the very latest ones.
Well, the problem is that accessing the DVD freezes windows explorer for 10-15 seconds intervals. Here's how to reproduce it:
- open windows explorer
- open the tray, place a blank cd in, close the tray
- select the drive
- wait patiently as windows explorer freezes and finally wakes up
The same is true when trying to burn a disc, say using CopyToDVD, when initially accessing the disc the app will freeze. In fact, the same is true about any application that access that drive, and it's really frustrating when you're multitasking and burning cds while say browsing, because you spend your time alt-tabbing between hanged windows waiting for stuff to refresh.
Now this is a problem I had for a while, regardless of hardware, so I imagine that's a windows problem. Is there anyway to fix it? Any help or pointers would be much appreciated!
