    Case choice P182 or RC-1000

Getting components together for a system for my son for Christmas.

Trying to get him a system so he can play Crysis etc.

He will end up with something like:

    Quad Q6600
    Gigabyte, Asus, Abit motherboard
    2Gb 6400 Ram
8800GT (not sure which one yet)
    620W Corsair HX PSU
    Samsung 500Gb hard drive

My problem is we had thought that a Antec p182 case would be best case to give him future upgrade possibilities, quiteness etc but scan have put the RC-1000 on special offer at a very tempting price.

    What would you go for?

I went for the same setup but with 520W and 4gb instead. I have a P182 for it and it's awesome.

I'm getting a similar spec but more HDD space and more RAM, same PSU and I have the Antec P182 and LOVE it

Ideally you'd want 4GB of RAM for crysis, it's a complete RAM hog, even playing the demo my comp had to do a lot of swap thrashing.

Any BFG or eVGA will do, the latter has a 10 year warranty which is nice. Both are well built.

That or a WD AAKS drive would do the job nicely.

Probably the RC-1000, more room, & less cravats etc. Plus the compartments on Antec cases are a bit of a tight squeeze.

    RC-1000

Also you only need a 520W Corsair HX or 520W Coolermaster Real Power M520 And a Asus P5K-E/WIFI-AP or Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R for motherboard.

    P182 everytime

Oh so quiet, cool, fantastic build quality, understated looks

I've done two builds with them and it's honestly the best case i've ever used. Get the 520w corsair though..you won't need the 620w

Great choice, Build may take a little longer, but you gan make it wonderfully neat with virtually no cable runs in main compartment.
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.

Running the main power cable behind the motherboard tray and feeding it in through the side is wonderful! I love that part the most.

Re: Case choice P182 or RC-1000

I would have chosen the P182 for aesthetics anyway.

    +1 for Asus P5K mobo.
And 4gigs of RAM would help Crysis, --> Bear in mind, if you are using Vista, get the 64bit version for 2 reasons. 32bit only supports 3gb of ram, and Crysis will work faster in 64bit aswell.
