    RAM questions

I'm putting together a new PC specifically as a 3D graphics workstation. I've picked the Asus P5K-E/WIFI-AP as the mobo with a Q6600 but I'm having trouble deciding on RAM.

Is there a big performance difference between 667 and 800? I won't be overclocking. I'd prefer to get 2x2GB sticks leaving me some room to upgrade later.

    Re: RAM questions

As above. I built the a pc recently for someone with the same intended use (similar components also) and used 667mhz ram as it was nice and cheap at the time

    Re: RAM questions

I thought as much. As a bonus on the side it seems to be easy to overclock the Q6600 to 333 with 667 ram for a nice 1:1 too so I might give that a shot. Thanks for the help.

    Re: RAM questions

i understand that cas timings are sometimes more important 667mhz with cas 4 is better than 667 cas 5, though i dont really know how it would be differnt than 800mhz cas 5.
