    Re: New Gaming Rig

k, so a few more questions... man this is a lot of work for you guys, thanks a lot!

i was looking at the 512mb 8800gt cards and found a few. Should i only look for clock speeds? or what?
    =i saw a xenon 8800GT 512MB extreme 650mhz 1900mhz with a Zalman VF1000 cooler pre-installed on it. $330
    =there was the ASUS EN8800GT 512MB(PCI-E)[Crysis ] 600mhz 1800mhz (free Crysis deluxe edition) $350
    =XFX GeForce 8800 GT 512MB DDR3 Alpha Dog Ed. 625mhz 1800mhz $300
    =XFX GeForce 8800 GT 512MB DDR3 XXX Alpha Dog Ed. 670mhz 1950mhz $350
i think all those prices are correct. On the xenon with the vf1000 cooler i do not remember seeing the ram coolers...

=Ram... Still havent gotten a confirmation on the OCZ Reaper pc6400price (2*1gb kit). so checked out the 'high quality' samsung ram. i can get 4gigs pc6400 for $80 (4*1gb). if i am not overclocking (and even though i am running a 32bit version of xp or vista with a 512mb card) will i notice a performance difference with 4gb of samsung vs 2gb ocz? is the ocz better than 4gb samsung?
    =found the Q6600 for $260 vs E6750 for $255. Which should i get? I play games...
=Lastly if i want to run sli in a years time (or so) what board should i get now?

=thanks again for all your help.

    Re: New Gaming Rig

On the 8800gt I would probably buy the cheapest one and overclock it which would give about the same speed or maybe faster than the more expensive one.

The OCZ ram will likely have better timings (the number like 4-7-7-11 or somesuch, lower is better) and be more overclockable. However if you're not going to overclock then the 4gb kit will proably be better for you.

The Q6600 is better for everything. Get a G0 one.

Give it a week and look at the new GTS's...They are going to be superior to the GT's for a similar price.

The OCZ timings will be 4-4-4-15 i think so have good timings. You can actually get OCZ Platinum PC6400 for £35 per 2x1gb here: OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P800R22GK) . As much as i hate linking this site, its amazing value.

The Q6600 ISNT better for everything. I have no idea where you got that from? If you cant wait though, its the budget Quad option and is decent enough. Unless you are encoding you wont notice though.
Its certainly not better for games than any C2D at the moment.
The new Quads will be here straight after xmas and will be faster and cheaper than the Q6600

Enermax for the power supply and you simply have to get the 500gb spinpoint from Samsung as ur in Korea

I'd probably go for the Xenon, although I've not heard of that make
    was it this one?
Looks like the company is emtek and xenon is there model name
I've found there site, google failed me but found it on nvidias korean site
    ::: ::ÀÌ¿¥ÅØ:: ÄÄÇ»ÅÍ ¼¼»óÀ» ÀÌ¿¥ÅؾÆÀÌ¿£¾¾¿Í ÇÔ²² :::

The reason I'd go with it is that the stock cooler is rather Hot for temps unless you turn the fan up then it's a bit loud
There's a good overclock on it and a nice price.

EDIT: And if you want to go SLi then you should be looking at a nforce 680i chip set but they will be about twice the cost (£135-165ish in the uk) of the p35 boards.
Although you might be able to pickup a 650i chipset board for less (£70-85ish in the uk) main differnce seems to be 4 sata and 2 x8 sli instead of 6 sata and 2 x16 sli + 1 x8 on the 680i (yes it has 3 pci-e slots the 3rd would be used for a physx card not a triple sli)
EDIT2: although the 2 x8 sli sounds slower than 2 x16 sli it's not that bad
Nvidia nForce 650i SLI vs. nForce 680i SLI - TechSpot
loses only 1-3 fps on a 8800gtx sli

    Re: New Gaming Rig

k, well, i cant get everything till i get my 2nd paycheck (jan5th,) after christmas. So i did have enough for a monitor... and bought a samsung 2232BW. I love it though i think it may cause problems with my Acer 5920G with: T5250, 2gb, and 8600m GT 256mb with 1024mb turbocache possibility. but whatever, it looks perty!

i found the ram store today... tooke like 2hours in a taxi but i found it this is all they had (terrible seleciton) AND they will not order in any more.
    OCZ2VU8002GK PC2-6400 Vista Upgrade. 5-5-5-15 48$ (had 2sets of these)
    OCZ2RPR11502GK PC2-9200 Reaper. 5-5-5-18 140$
    OCZ2P10002GK PC2-8000 5-5-5-15 114$

i am thinking about getting both 2*1gb sticks of the Vista Upgrade. I know its not anything fancy but it should be better than the generic samsung PC2-6400... right? or no real performance increase?
and yes Pob255 that was the right link for the emtek/xenon geforce card.
what board would you suggest for E6850/Q6600 thats SLI? i was looking at some 650i/680i boards but unsure what to get.
    thanks
