It's actually not as far as I thought, only 264 miles each way! Still, that's a long way on my bike & I don't know what tte police would say to a guy cycling up the M74 balancing a PC on the mudguard!
Ironically, that's the distance Apple expected me to travel to get my MacBook repaired.
But surely the macbook "just works"?
I was half expecting them to tell me that the distortion on the LCD was a 'feature'.
But seriously, it arrived broken, they don't send out technicians nor do they send out couriers, so you have to take the machine in person to 'your local Apple centre' which happens to be 125 miles away across a country border. Then they take 2 weeks to repair it & expect you to do the trip over again to collect it! In the end, I travelled over 500 miles, spent £30 on train tickets & lost 2 days to the blighters. Suffice to say, buying a Mac was a mistake that I pay for every day & I will never buy another one in my enture life!

Careful with the language you will lose that free delivery if you're not careful
I agree though apple are pretty bad, I would never touch one but my brother loves them.
I can't wait until I can justify upgrading to a nice new Linux-running Thinkpad...
Well, I've just bought a cheap dualhead quadro (PCI) so that I can run triple/quad screens when I'm all set up. This is going to be fun
Edit: got a question. Which will provide the best analogue stereo output, the Intel HD Audio onboard the motherboard, or my venerable SoundBlaster Live! Value which currently resides in my media machine? I run a stereo setup through a 1970's amplifier, so I'm not worried at all about the extra channels, digital outputs or anything like that.
