    Internal HD caddy?

    Morning all,
can anyone recommend a good internal HD caddy for fitting in a CD drive bay? Like the icybox stuff, but I'm hoping some of you have anecdotal recommendations.

If poss, I would like 1) fanless and 2) vibration damping to keep it quiet. Obv, I can disconnect any fan, but then I'd need a caddy that's good at heat dispersal.

Also, anyone know of fan controllers that fit in a floppy drive bay? to control at least 3 fans.

    Cheers all.

    Re: Internal HD caddy?

Lucio, my two enclosures have just arrived.

    ...

    They look nice.

    ...

But you get what you pay for, don't you? No padding. Open back. Interesting. I see the rubber grommets. How effective are they are noise reduction? Bearing in mind that my raptor is currently screwed into an FDD bay and very rattly.

I'm not sure I'll connect the fan, either. Open backed like that, wouldn't have thought it would get badly hot.

    Re: Internal HD caddy?

Actually, mine works quite well. Just testing the temps and that now. Not totally silent, but good.

    Re: Internal HD caddy?

3 of my fans aren't mobo'd coz I have a fan controller. It's dead simple: you just don't plug them into the mobo. You give the fan controller a power supply, and it passes the power onto the fans. And then you get to control the speed and, as a result, the noise. Great stuff.

to put it another way: You fans don't need to be mobo'd.

    Re: Internal HD caddy?

Ohhh I see, my the fans are just plugged directly into my PSU instead of the mobo. Thanks for the tip shooty
