    Inspiron XPS M170 v Inspiron 1520

I have a dilemma. Both are about the same price but the xps was made in 2005!
I would quite like to own a xps but Ime really not sure. I have weighed up which one I want but just cant make my mind up. Oh and there is no way ime spending more than 500 quid on one.

what will you be using it for? the xps would be slightly better for things like photo editing because of the screen but the 1520 would be better for games because of the graphics card

    Re: Inspiron XPS M170 v Inspiron 1520

Just general use really, I am attracted to the 17" screen for obvious reasons, I also have a feeling the 6800 ultra is faster than the 8600gt ddr2. Obviously the cpu is slower, but the main thing I am attracted to is the screen and the fact its a XPS.
Ime asking as I have no previous experiences with laptops.

Notebookcheck: Mobile Graphics Cards - Benchmark List

next to no different in 3Dmarks .. the 8600GT being better in the later versions..

I would get the inspiron. If you want a 17" screen why not get the inspiron 1720 or the vostro 1700 (same laptop different colour)

    Re: Inspiron XPS M170 v Inspiron 1520

I am tipping towards getting the xps, purely on the screen and its res, the nearest 'no compromise' lappy on their site is this: MCS Technology Ltd > (DLN068) Dell Inspiron 1720 (Jet Black) Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2GHz 2048mb/320gb (2 x160)/17" Wide UXGA TrueLife Screen with Integrated 2.0MP Webcam/DVD-RW Drive/256mb GeForce 8600M GT/Wireless Network/Windows Vista Home/'Expre but its way over budget.
Are there any other places that sell referbished lappys like these?

The only place I can think of is Buy Dell Computers, Cheap Laptops, Dell Servers & Laser Printers New or Used at ITC Sales they sell quite a few dell laptops but rarely have stock of the good ones.

You might want to check the dell outlet store too. They often have some good deals

I persoanlly can't stand laptop screens with very high resolutions but everyone has their own taste.
