Vista and 2 gfx cards

I am planning on adding a PCI graphics card to my system to run a second monitor alongside a ATI 3850 in order to take some strain off the 3850.

The pci card is unlikely to be up to vista standard for running Aero etc.

Will my primary monitor still run with full visual effects or will the pci card drag everything down to its level?

To be honest, I don't believe a second montior would put any "strain" whatsoever on your HD3850.

It is more to do with driver issues when using two monitors than anything else, causing the drivers to restart when using 2 monitors on 1 card.

My brother ran dual displays in Vista on a 7800GT and had no issues that I recall.....

i have run 2 monitors for years now, even baqck on my radeon 9800 or whatever it was. Dont worry about strain on the driver or card or anything, your card wil be fine with 2 monitors, probably better than any old PCI solution

...lol iI understand what you are saying, but I am having driver related problems with 2 monitors under gaming circumstances...andone know the answer to my question?

If you have catalyst installed, have you made sure the .net frameworks are all installed? For some reason the catalyst requires 1.1 and 2 to run, i would put 3 on aswel just to be sure
