Many people have had issues with the Samsungs dying, hence they are so cheap at the minute....

I love my WD FYPS GPs in RAID5, can't really say anything, no array dropping, great speed and very little noise, not to mention cool running.
I would however bought the samsungs if I knew they're coming down to double-digit price :S.
The WD GPs are considerably slower than the F1 due to lower spindle speed. But I run RAID5 so speed is not very important for me.

Samsung, 6 so far and still going
If the F1's came out when I needed some space I'd have gotten them.
It's these particular Samsungs that are the problem:

Yeah Newegg's User Reviews are always worth a look. Quite good at pinpointing when a particular piece of kit has a problem.
Does that go the same for the 750Gb Samsung F1? I 've had mine 1 week...
was looking to purchase the 1tb f1, not so sure now hopefully they've sorted the problems out
