    Was it master/slaved correctly?

    What model drive was it? - OK it was a WDSE 200, sorry.

    Perhaps you need a special jumper config.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    I did think that after id taken it all apart, and put it back how it was....

    It was set as Slave, just pulled it outta my computer and that's what it was in there.

    The maxtor drives are using 2 jumpers.

    1 2 3 4
    5 6 7 8

    Jumper going 1/5 and 2/3

    Not sure what setting that is, without taking all the drives out.

    raid 1 is fastest for read, slowest for write, but it's not like you'd notice - the latency on the lan, means that you wouldn't notice anyway.
    I'm presuming you'd be using the local scsi port anyway.
    Take a look at the http://rswww.com miniracks - can get nifty mini units which bolt under deskspace which is quite handy (I use them for DAs)
    search on "19" rack" "desk rack" or "3U" even then - you're still looking at around 40 quid for a wall mount model.

    can you get access to the unit's OS?
    you should be able to hard code the parameters? at the very least dig out the info you need on the drive parameters.

    Thanks for the link scotty, will have a shufties in a sec

    As for gaining access to the OS, i have no clue! It must be stored on ROM or RAM somewhere, as i pulled out both hard drives' to test a new one, and it still booted fine.

    I would not know where to begin looking ro even how to change it!

    Ok, got this all up and running. It's got 2 x 40's in at the mo.

    I bought 2 brand new Maxtor 80gb to put in there, just for the extra bit of space. Connected the drives up, but it just wont work... I think its got to be something to do with Jumper Settings.

    The drives that are in there are really old and i cant find out what jumper settings they are set at, the Maxtor site doesnt have the configuration showing... it is

    1 2 3
    4 5 6 7

    Jumper is over 1 and 4 and also 2 and 3. Anyone know what setting that is?
