it is a digital out cable for sound (SPDIF - Sony Philips Digital InterFace) - should plug onto headers on your sound card and then onto a front panel connector so you have a SPDIF socket on the front of your computer, not sure why you'd get one of these with a graphics card.

im not getting a sound card, onboard sound is good enough so where does the cable go then?
dont some nvidea cards carry the sound then output it (along with the video) to the moniter?
thanks for the quick reply Killie99
Yup its for HDMI sound... connect from motherboard (or sound card) spdif out to the video card. Then if you use a HDMI adapter, you can do sound over HDMI
so i dont realy need it then? cant i just use the ports on the back of the motherboard with my X530s and egnore the SPDIF cable?

yea they are, i just went and checked. first time i opened the box i saw the SPDIF cable and went what the hell is that? and didnt bother to realy look at the other cables
