    ATI Dual display problem

Just upgraded from a nvidia 8800gts320 to a ATi HD4850.

My primary display is a 19" running at 1280x1024, and I have a DLP TV as a secondary display running at 720p set in catalyst control center.

and when I intitally set them they run fine but when i switch the TV off, the graphics card switches to single display mode, bringing the applications i left on the second display (and want them to stay there) on to the primary and also more annoyingly switching the resolution down to 1024x768.
And if i set the single primary resolution back to 1280x1024, then switch the TV on, the primary display switches again to 1024x768.

Anyone have a clue how to stop it switching to single display after i switch the TV off and to stop it changing the resolutions.
my old graphics card never did this.

    Thanks

I think I can help you out with this one.

    Google Ultramon.

It is a utility which handles the multimonitor support of windows.

You have to pay for he full version but the basic should do all you need for now.

    Re: ATI Dual display problem

I am already using ultramon. Great application that i've been using for a long time, but its not helping, I've been tinkering with that and the ATI catalyst settings and still the same problem. Unless you know of a setting in ultramon which stops the autodetection of a TV?

    Re: ATI Dual display problem

if you want to set up dual screen i wouldn't use the catalyst thing, when installing the gfx card just use the drivers and use windows display properties to configure the settings! and use ultramon also!

    Re: ATI Dual display problem

    Hi!
I have exactly the same problem with my HD4850. When I switch on the secondary TV output and press apply it resets the option and simply does nothing...

If anyone could help us maybe with a patch for Catalyst or something similar would be very useful!
    Any solution? Please reply!
    Thanks!

    Re: ATI Dual display problem

My advice would to be setup up the dualmonitors through Display Properties. I don't use catalyst and when I have one monitor off it is still in dual mode.
