    IDE Cables

    Hi All

Following on from my other post, i thought id split this and ask for some other help!

As the NAS i have, is a four drive version. The drives are mounted next to each other, instead of the normal on top in a desktop computer. The problem i have is, at the moment there are two drives in there, both using cable each connecting to one of the 2 IDE channels per drive...

This works fine, but the problem im going to have is when i get 2 more drives, i am going to need to connect Hard drives to one IDE channel. Normally this would be fine using the IDE cables, but as the drives are next to each other the primary and secondary connectors arent going to reach... Well the ones i have wont.

Does anyone know of IDE cables you can get with a much bigger cable gap between the primary and secondary Connectors?

use the cable the other way around? the ones i have the first connector is 2/3 of the way down the cable.. so its also 1/3 from the other end?

other than that i dunno, what length are the ide cables? not sure if you can get 90cm ones, - might be your best bet if you can get them,

Yeah, you can get 90cm ones, but the problem is the gap between the connectors that go to the drives...

Im not sure if that is that big of a difference no matter what size you buy. Im sure i had a 90cm one somewhere might have a look and see.

    Ta for the idea.
