Hey folks, was just wanting to ask, if you had to choose between three makes, same specs same price, which one to go for? DELL, HP, IBM? Thanks.

IBM - best build quality in my experience.
Probably Dell because of their good cs or, which ever has the longest warranty
I hate the IBM styling (I have owned one btw)... so would probably avoid that
+1 for IBM
I've had 3 Dells from work, destroyed them all. Cases come apart, hinges and levers break etc
I bought a HP for myself a few years ago, had a re-occurring fault which after the 4th fix I gave up on.
Had my current IBM for 3 years, unfortunately its still going strong without any issues (so no chance of work upgrading it yet )

Depends on the product range more than the manufacturer, IME. Lenovo 3000s - slightly cack. Lenovo Thinkpads - rock solid. Dell Inspiron - meh. Dell Latitude or XPS - great.
A key snapped off my IBM a few years back, so the keyboards aren't solidly built
IBMs have brilliant build quality, a few of my friends have IBM laptops, I think they're brilliant even though I really don't like their styling.
My friend has an HP computer, the fact that it's in pristine condition 5 years on is highly commendable.
I like the look of Dells but I've had several problems with computers and a printer so I can't really recommend them.
SiM, remember - use fingers, not hammer, OK?
