    Gaming mouse and keyboard

    Hey everyone,

I have been using a generic keyboard and an old rf lazer mouse for ages now and i want to upgrade.

I dislike the long throw, activation distance, with the high style keyboard keys. I would much prefer the laptop style low profile keys.

I have tried my bluetooth keyboard but the lag is bad and is generally unresponsive for gaming.

So i think i's time to move back to cable devices for performance.

I have been looking around and the name that keeps coming up is Razer.

I like the look of the Lycosa and lachesis mouse.

Does anyone have experience with either or have any other suggestions

    ED

Lachesis is an excellent mouse, although i didn't like mine and reverted back to my Diamondback 3G.

It's got excellent features, software is excellent.

Rear is too big for my style of finger tip usage.

    Lycosa also gets great reviews!

    It's 4.98*

    Re: Gaming mouse and keyboard

I could make recommendations, but it would help if you could give us a price range,, and whether you use yuor fingers or your palm to control the mouse. At the moment, i would recommend either a Logitech G9, a Microsoft Habu, or a razer copperhead, and a Logitech G11. They are sound choices, but it would help if you would answer the above questions, to provide a more personalised response

edit: razer lycosa is also a good keyboard

    Re: Gaming mouse and keyboard

I have always used my palm for mousing about. Never realized there were other methods till recently. I have big hands too.

I have heard that high dpi mice have an issue that when you try to recentre the mouse on the mat you have to left it rather high as they keep tracking the surface.

Budget is not an issue if it's a good piece of kit

still using my mx518 that i've had for the last few years and never a problem, and my k/b is a zboard merc stealth - not the cheapest (u can get the original merc quite a bit cheaper but not backlit) but one of the best i've used for gaming

    Re: Gaming mouse and keyboard

so a big mouse would porbably be best, so it fits your palm nicely and razer dont do big mice: youll have to look elsewhere. Id look at the logitech g5, and see if you like it. It may not be new and top of the range, but it has lead the mouse market for a long time, and it suits your mouse type. Id also consider the wolfking trooper. It is an excellent value laser mouse, that i have recently bought for £15 from scan as a backup. I have started using it full time now cos its so comfy. I too am a palm man, but i use my fingers for up/down, which is weird

The keyboard is just personal choice, really. If you like the look of one then buy it. The added features like macro keys are useless in all games except rpgs when you have time to move your hand off the wasd keys. All i can say is buy a decent brand and the key action will be good

    Re: Gaming mouse and keyboard

I have had a great experience with my Razer Lycosa/DeathAdder combination.

The Lycosa has small slimline keys which work great for typing or gaming. Drivers and media keys are great also.

The DeathAdder is everything you should want in a mouse. It feels awesome on your palm and is very responsive in games and in Windows.

Overall, well worth the steep-ish price tag IMO.

Plus they look sweet on my desk next to each other.

    Re: Gaming mouse and keyboard

the deathadder is a bit outdated, but most mice work ok, they arent getting much better as time goes on, ini terms of performance, but the functionality is improving a lot, which is a key factor in their sales

    Re: Gaming mouse and keyboard

I have a wireless logitech mouse that looks virtually identical to the g5, it was a K/B mouse combo. Mouse works great though i kinda trod on and broke the keyboard

Got a DiNovo Lazer set too but the keyboard lags badly and the mouse just wont work on any surface

Going to be getting a mouse surface too. I run all my gear in my room and alas i have no space for a desk so i have to run from the bed. So a hard surface one would be good and prob a large one too.
