Recently bought a new mobo and E8400, check my specs for it. I dled everest, and it said my CPU was at 50degress, and this is at idle. Is this anything to worry about? I have only got the stock cooler at the moment, but still, my AMD used to run at around 35.
I'm just scared, as i've had it for a while, and only just got it working, and don't want it to break
They are known to have dodgy sensors on them but make sure your HSF is fitted on nice and tight.
I suspect a bad thermal paste application, or your cooler isnt clamped tight enough, although i recommmend checking your temps with realtemp first. Its meant to be more accurate with the e8400, but that would only take 10c off your temps, and 40C idle is quite warm. What are your ambient temps like? Actually, the stock cooler comes pre applied with paste, so i would just reseat it, making sure to press firmly enough to clamp it down well.
Well I made sure that everything was applied well, and that it was on tight. It just seems a bit high.
However i have a nother problem now, vista is saying I need to buy a new disk in order for vista to work as this one is already registered -.-
The 45nm chips are fine but its the actual bios on teh boards reporting the temp incorrectly, iirc only intel boards provided correct temperatures. Wouldnt worry to much as its probably about 20C less, mine at stock is at ~43C(its not cold today though) on idle but i think on laod it goes up 2c. WHen i had it for a very short while on orthos it would go from like 35C to 80C in about 4seconds which proves its an issue with reading the info because it wouldnt heat that fast. Planning on buying a scythe or thermalright ultra soon to see if it makes a difference.
