    Panaflo fans - worth it?

A few years back Panaflo fans were all the rage. Then people stopped talking about them.
    Are they still worth it?

The Panaflo's back then did not seem that quiet at 12v anyway andI know a lot of people got good results initially putting their el-cheapo Chinese fans on 7v, but after a couple of years do they still get noisy?

Is it worth spending best part of £15 for a 120mm NMB-MAT Silent fan?

For extreme overclocking yes, but if its going a sub standard heatsink no.

2x 120x38mm on a TRUE is good for overclocking, not so much so for the ears

Others such as the scythe/yate loons are around the same price with a bit less air flow and less noise, it's all upto your requirements tbh

http://www.dorothybradbury.co.uk/ are a good source for panaflo "M1s"

    It's 4.98*

£15? Get a couple of YL for £3-4 and undervolt them to 9v or 7v and that'll be fine.

They were a popular brand of fans back in the days. If I'm correct they are part of the Panasonic's parent company Matsu-something.

In answer ro OP, no they're not worth it nowadays especially at £15 (no 120mm fan is worth that much imo). There are many other good fans on the market such as Yate Loons, Scythes, Nexus, etc.

Re: Panaflo fans - worth it?

The Panaflo 80mm L (low speed) version was one of the most talked about or recommended fan at one point on SPCR. I still think the 80mm L is a good fan. Scan sometimes sell them for under a £ on Today Only.

With regards the 120mm, I have no experience but as others have said you're better off with Nexus, Yate Loon, Scythe etc.

Re: Panaflo fans - worth it?

I had one of the 80mm ones and it was pretty quiet although it does not shift as much air as some of the noisier ones! The Sharkoon Silent Eagle series are reasonably quiet and do have a decent airflow from my experience.
