Drive bay conversion (5 to 3")
I was wondering how easy it is to fit a hard drive into an optical drive bay, and if there any easy conversion modules available for cheap?
The reason for this is to ensure the front fans in the Antec 300 arent obscured in any way :)

Also acts as a vibration dampner
You can probably find something similar for a couple of quid somewhere, but once you take postage into accound, being able to pick one up in Maplin locally for £6 is a pretty good deal
EDIT: Oh here we go, this is the traditional style. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hard-Disk-Driv...6.c0.m14.l1318

I bought a set of these Sharkoons from Scan on their Today only (~£4.xx). Great piece of kit.

Looks good, and from scan is a bonus, but I'm being a retard here i know it, but, how does that help a 3.5" drive fit in a 5" bay, hows it fitted?
Cheers :)

The round bits acts as rollers. They go onto the HDD and the brackets are put into the 5.25" rails. The HDD slides in like a drawer in a cabinet.

Yup is an excellent and clear shot (but is not my one though )
I reckon it might be on Today only quite soon. They come on quite regularly.
Re: Drive bay conversion (5 to 3")
Certainly worth dropping a request in for :)
Re: Drive bay conversion (5 to 3")
An alternative approach would be this. Obviously not ideal for a boot drive, but I've got a couple in my machine for swapping other drives around (which I do frequently). Perfect for backups too.

Do those ones not have a power/data backplane?

Just over £5 - hardly expensive (2 pints?) :)

They do indeed, for hot-swapping. Is that a complication?
