Re: £1k system

My suggestions:
WD/Samsung/Seagate 640gb Hard drive. Cheap and fast.
GTX260 is good but get newer one with more cores
thermal paste: arctic cooling mx2
mobo: P5Q-E / DFI P45 board
cpu: q9450 or q6600
I would go for antec 1200 instead of 900.
Change PSU to corsair HX 520W

Re: £1k system

I spent £1000 on the PC in my specs box in the holidays. Get an HD4870 instead of the 4850, bearing in mind that my £1000 included all peripherals, and you should be set.

Re: £1k system

Why get an X48 and an HD4870X2.. might as well save the money and get a P45 if you only want to use one lane.

I wouldn't bother with the 4870X2 actually, the new HD4850X2 seems great though, and when they are £270 ish will be a great buy. Run nice and cool too unlinke the 4870X2.

PSU is massive overkill. 620W HX would do nicely.

640GB AAKS is a fair bit quicker and only a little bit more money.

Scan seems a lot cheaper as well.
