Question AMD Setup, Looks Good To Me But I Dont Use AMD!

I am building a PC for a friend, and i dont dabble with AMD's much so i just wanted to check that all the hardware i have chose is good/works together. So anyway, the spec: -

-Scan 6057B Midi Tower case Black without Window 300W PFC + Case Fan

-AMD *Retail* Athlon XP 2400+ (2.00 GHz) with AMD Heat Sink Fan 3Yr

    -Asus A7N8X-E-Deluxe - nForce2 - x8 AGP+Gbit Lani+6Ch Sound+SATA+1394+SATA-RAID+USB2+WiFi port

    -40Gb Maxtor +8 ATA-133 (7200rpm, 2MB Cache) Quiet Drive Technology 1yr

    -Corsair Value Select 512Mb DDR 333Mhz PC2700

-MSI 128Mb Geforce FX 5200 TD Tv/DVI Retail.

How does it look? The 2mb cache on the HDD doesnt really matter, same with the ram being cheap. He was on a budget so just needs something to handle MSN, Winamp, DVD programs, IE etc.

PS. Anyone who has any creative idea's as what me and a friend can do to kill most parts on a K6, Tell me Thanks

/me grins at being the K6 destroying friend.

Ok, erm, they dont need the A7N8X-E deluxe.
Asus A7N8X-X nForce2+Lan+6CH Audio+A133 (~£30 less than the one you said, so money can go on an 80-120gb hdd instead)

Any particular reason for the Asus over the Abit NF7S?

i think it's quite a nice setup there for a budget system. if u happen to get an unlocked cpu, remember to set the FSB to 166MHz and multiplier of 12 (default is 15). or perhaps even higher if u r into overclocking

I would say get the NF7-S instead of the Asus, but that's just my opinion. Also, I hope this system isn't for heavy gaming, since the 5200 isn't exactly the best choice you could make.

Id get the NF7 or NF7-S aswell, depending on what he needs

Dont expect much from the graphics card. It might pay to scout out a second hand one, for a much better performace gain.

Well i have give them the exact quote so its too late to go back now. No, its not for heavy gaming, and wont need to be overclocked. He just generally needs a fast, reliable machine thats as good as it can be for as less as i can get it for. Or they could buy that 2.4ghz celery (Celeron), with 256ram and 40gb hdd, and onboard 32mb onboard graphics for £599 out of a catalogue.....And £350 isn't bad for what it is. May decide on a 2nd machine for myself. Yes Mozzer, AMD
