    CPU Temps/Thermal Paste Question

    One of those silly/noobish questions

I've installed a Ninja Rev B on an AMD AM2 5000BE. It was sitting in the case (Antec NSK 4000 II) with sides and top off, no other components were connected. I was only testing to see if the computer started (after I'd had a few issues).

The temps were 36C (an probably climbing). Paste applied was the Zalman one, I only brushed it on lightly.

Do I need to remove the Ninja and reapply paste?

Basically, I was expecting the temps to be under 30 (even though no case fans installed).

As it's easier to remove the motherboard now as I don't have any components connected, should I remove the cooler and apply a thicker layer of paste?

I'm hoping to run the Ninja passive.

    Thanks.

    Re: CPU Temps/Thermal Paste Question

I'd try it for a longer period of time. 39 is not that hot for a CPU. If it exceeds 60c then I'd be concerned.

    Re: CPU Temps/Thermal Paste Question

    idle or load?
I very much doubt a thicker layer of paste, maybe a thinner layer.

One thing to remember about heatpipe coolers is that they tend to have a minimum optimal working temp, due to the nature of state change cooling.

Must say I'm not familier with the AMD 5000BE so I'm not sure if that's a high or low temp.

    Re: CPU Temps/Thermal Paste Question

ROFL Ive not seen a 5000BE on water getting 30's

If you getting 40/60 idle load then you should be happy.

As for paste if it was a even thin layer you have no need 2 reapply

That was idle temp. I'm not sure if I can get a thiner layer

Reassuring. I went for the 5000BE over the 5200 (going to use that for another build) thinking they both have same voltage so temps will be low
