Temperatures
What is considered a dangerous temperature for a mobile Athlon XP then? Presumably the same for a normal Athlon XP?
Reason I ask is coz my HSF is not brilliant but I can run at nearly 2.4GHz on air but the temps are late 40's idle, early 50's in use. Just wondered how much further I can try and push it without risking damage...
i think it says in the release notes on the AMD site

mines runnin at 56ish under load at 2.3gig, 1.7v

Mine's been running prime for the last 5 hours at 2.5GHz/1.8V - 47C load
Volcano 12 flat out sounds like a dustbuster though.
& yes, the AMD site I find hard to use too.
Think thermal spec is 90deg die temp before your frying it.
My shuttle is set to power off at 60ish degs onboard temp.
have run in the high 60s before now but you will be running in to stability
issues at those temps for that speed.
Taking that onboard temp is diff to die temp by a variable amount 60 is a
good top line to take.
On air I always see sub 42 as being my ideal but it does scale with how hard
your pushing a chip so that faster you push the lower you want your temp to
maintain true stabilty.
at 2.4ghz 1.8v mine runs over 60 load

this link here should give you some basic info on the safe operating temps for your processor based on the processors part number - dovument is a few months old but i'd assume the info is still valid since i found nothing else contradictory on the AMD site(NB - its a pdf document so may take a minute to load)
agreed - the AMD website is a nightmare! took me 10 mins to find this

The AMD website is almost as bad as their marketing (or lack thereof.)
