Noisy AMD stock fan

Sorry for all the new threads lately but I've just completed a build so I have lots of questions .
Anyway, I aimed for the PC to be quiet and it is apart from the stock fan on the AM2 cooler - when the PC is first switched on it is very loud which is because the motherboard doesn't slow it from full speed for a minute or two. No big deal but when it slows it is still noisy - not the noise of the airflow but an annoying buzzing noise (it's definitely that because the buzzing stopped when I unplugged it). The cooler is fine and keeps the CPU cool so I'm thinking about replacing the stock 70mm fan with a quieter one but I can't seem to find any anywhere. What would you suggest? If a new cooler is the way to go it would have to be a low-profile one (to fin in an Antec Minuet).

Scythe Shuriken would be my first port of call. About the same height as intel and AMD's stock hsf but is a lovely bit of kit

I know this is a bit obvious, but you have made sure there's no wires or anything resting against the fan casing / catching the fan blades etc, and that the fan itself is firmly set on the heatsink? A buzzing noise would suggest vibration issues rather than a problem with the fan itself...

No, I think it's just a noisy fan TBH. It's not very loud but being in a quiet PC it's a bit annoying.

it is probably just thhe noisiest bit, go for the staffsmike suggested Shuriken or alternatively find a phenom cooler and voltmod the fan, but really scythe stuff is class and will last you a number of processors

Hmm I've just been thinking - it is probably just the noisiest bit so I can notice it more. I think I'll wait for a while to see if I get used to it, it may be more noticeable because it's a new sound. The Shuriken does look good though.
