opteron 148 stock cooler fan stops

The fan on the stock cooler stops after awhile and then twitches for awhile.
A couple mins later it starts up again could this be cool and quiet kicking in?

Could be; have you checked what the CPU temperatures are like during this behaviour? And do you actually have CnQ installed (BIOS, AMD driver, and Windows profile).

Look in your Bios for " Cool and Quiet " then disable it, if it is disabled then you might need a new cpu fan, but post your mobo model number here so we can check it for you

if it is cool and quiet you need to make sure the chips reading a correct temp, my asus an32sli and xp4400 dont read the right temp in bios, if i had left cool and quiet on the CPU would be ready to explode before the fan kicked in

Then disable CnQ in bios then the fan will be on all the time.

I did on my mobo and it stops the CnQ trying to downclock my pc when I OC it .

If your not bothered then leave it on

If you let it stop and spin, all this means is that the CPU will get a little bit hotter then if CnQ was disabled and the cpu will downclock when you don't use the cpu/pc as much.
