Question Unable to find network device - Windows XP - Time Notebook

    Hi,

I recently upgraded and now I have a dedicated smoothwall box. As a result I had to change my LAN settings so that each computer has a fixed IP. This has worked fine on 4 out of the 5 computers on my network, however my sister's laptop is having some issues.

It's not recognising that there is a network adaptor installed but in device manager it does say "VIA Compatible Fast Ethernet Adapter". I've tried uninstalling it then restarting windows but that didnt work. I've also tried everything on this page.

    http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;Q254631

    with no success.

Her laptop is from Time Computers. the ID number thingy is 00254NF02G4 which isn't even on the Time support website.

I would download her actually NIC drivers but as I can't find out what it is I don't know what to download.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

I've now tried installing some VIA network drivers but with no luck. Only difference is it now says VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter in Device Manager.
