    520W Corsair HX
    Coolermaster CM-690 V2
    512MB XFX GTS 250 Core
    4GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, CAS 5-5-5-18
    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
    1TB Western Digital WD10EAVS
    Asus P5Q Turbo

The computer screen size is 17 inches

any input would be greatly appreciated

    Re: New Build

Hows about an AMD X3 Black edition, 785G based mobo (asus if it were me) and some DDR3.

You would get away with a 450W HX if you wanted to, the GTS250 isn't too much of a power suck.

You're better off with a quad on a cheaper motherboard. GTA IV, ARMA II, Supreme Commander and MS FSX are all games that spring to mind as benefiting from the extra cores. DDR3 prices will continue to fall and DDR2 will increase. Go with something that uses DDR3 at this point.

I agree with staffsMike and ed^chigliak here TBH.

    For example:

    AMD Phenom II X3 720 ~ £89

    OR

    AMD Phenom II X2 550 ~ £71

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx

    Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P ~£67

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/167782

    OR

    Asus M4A785TD-V EVO ~£70

    GA-MA790XT-UD4P ~ £96

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx

    This motherboard is Crossfire capable.

    4gb 1600mhz DDR3 ~ £65

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148818

This can be run at lower latencies at 1333mhz

    OR

    4gb 1333mhz DDR3 ~£44

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/166995

You should be able to fit in an HD4870 512mb within the budget too:

    Re: New Build

Even if you stick with the Intel CPU a DDR3 board like the ASUS P5Q3 would be ideal.
