    Memory

    Just a quick question

I have been searching the forum for threads relating to mixing PC6400 with PC5400 and having read a few threads I just wanted to confirm what I was thinking...

I currently have 2 x 1gig of PC6400 Corsair TwinXMS2 in my machine but have an unopened pack with 2 x 1gig PC5400 Corsair TwinXMS2 lying around due to some problems when I needed to replace a faulty stick - I am not sure of the timings for either of them as I am currently at work

I was wondering if it would be worthwhile chucking both sets in to the machine (I know the faster RAM will drop to the slower speed) for any performance increase or would I not see any improvements that would make it worthwhile, bearing in mind I already have the memory lying around so it would be a 'free' upgrade as it were?

    Cheers

    Re: Memory

Yes, I think it would be worth it, but remember, some mobos. do not like having all ram slots filled and may fail to boot.

Give it a go, nothing to lose, as long as you take care installing the 2nd kit.
