Which 500GB Hdd?

My current Hdd (a seagate 7200.10 S300 *I think*, need to double check), and since day 1 its been the loudest hard drive I've ever hard. It sounds like, as one reviewer said, a 2 year old rattling a tin can full of marbles. Every test has shown no errors on the disk, but the noise is impossible, and having put up with it for 2 years I've now decided enough is enough.

So I'm going to replace it when I get my copies of W7, and I was wondering what hdd to get.

The two I was looking at were the Western Digital 5000AAKS and the Samgsung F3 500GB.

Obviously fast would be good, but quiet is a must!

The 7200.12 are fast, quiet, single platter drives... slimmer and cool running as well...

Quite happy with mine anyway.

I would look at the Samsung F3 as IIRC their 500GB hard disk uses a single platter.

+1 for the F3. Virtually silent in my brothers new build and is pretty fast. Definately recommended
