    Steelseries 5hv2 or siberia

Basically i want to get a new headset cause the headset that i currently have isn't that good. I'm considering buying the new steelseries siberia v2 usb, but i've heard from some people that t'd be better off getting the 5vh2. Games that i usually play are css mw2 l4d so hearing footsteps is a must really; apart from the latter .

Can anyone give me an idea as to which i should purchase and a reason or maybe an alternative but a headset with a mic is a must.

    thanks

I have the 5hv2 and it's a great headset. Mic very clear, and gunshot/footsteps are crystal.

    thanks for your swift response,

I have to say i am drifting more towards the 5hv2. Only issue i've heard is that there are some issues when it comes to listening to music through them but that's no problem for me due to having a very nice speaker system.

    Are they very comfortable?

yeah they are quite comfortable - I have big ears and they rarely get uncomfortable even after several hours of use.

Not to deter you or anything, but I found the bass on the siberia v2 a bit tinny or lacking oomph. I cant really compare between the 5hv2 or siberia, since i only had the siberia v2. I returned it though.

In what respect did you find the headset lacked enough bass eg: games, music? Was that the only reason you disliked it and was it comfortable?

    Re: Steelseries 5hv2 or siberia

Comfort was good, I couldn't fault it. It was light as well so thats a plus. However, audio in gaming was a bit wanting in the sense that as I said, the bass lacked oomph. I would much prefer Audio technica 700 with a good amp. bear in mind though, that that would be quite a bit costlier. Hope this helps.

    Re: Steelseries 5hv2 or siberia

I play FPS games with the 5hv2, I can't fault the sound for gaming but it is a bit tinny for music.
I basically play my music through speakers because of that.
I suspect they make gaming headsets a bit more tinny than bassy..

The sound for gaming is perfect, can tell where people are with no difficulty.
The earcups are large enough (very comfortable), I really hate small earcups as they hurt my ears (the fatality ones for example, produces great sound in all aspects but uncomfortable for me to wear)
It can be detached in to 3 separate pieces for easy packing/travelling.

    Re: Steelseries 5hv2 or siberia

Cheers for all your advice lads, i was first considering to go for the sennheiser and the only one that had "over-ear" was the 350 and was out of my price range. I decided to go for the siberia v2 despite you all advising towards the 5hv2 (grateful that i am) although i do not currently use my headset for music i think that i may start to, so the siberia was my choice and an added plus it looks more badass
