Dell inspiron 1545: How to control fan speed?

As above really.

Just brought this laptop and i want the laptop to spin at higher rpm at lower cpu temperatures.
Anyone know how to achieve this?

Check if a utility like "Speed fan" will work with your motherboard.
It can be used to control fan speeds on supported motherboards

tried speedfan, however couldn't work out how to get it to work.

There is no simple option such as "make speed fan work at 100%"

You can't control the fan on any of the Studio models, afaik. Dell changed the way the fans interface with the system and none of the usual utilities work.
