    Geil Ultra Series 4GB (2x2GB) PC3-17000

I was browsing OCUK to compare RAM prices for a new PC I'm planning to build for a friend and I came across these on offer http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MY-083-GL .

RAM prices have often confused me as I often find myself comparing two kits that seem to have no distinguishing features apart from price. This pair stuck out though, and I couldn't figure out if it is a good deal or a trap. I've never heard of GeIL before and I haven't been able to find a review of this RAM anywhere. But from my searches a 4GB dual channel kit at 1600Mhz costs from £80 upwards, while this pair is clocked at 2133Mhz and for less than that, or the equivalent speed Kingston pair from this comparison http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=21358&page=3 . Is this a really good deal, or is it likely to be less reliable or something when compared to, for example, a pair of Corsair 1600Mhz sticks (like http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/4GB-%...S-9-9-9-24-XMP ).

    Re: Geil Ultra Series 4GB (2x2GB) PC3-17000

Well compared to Corsair isn't everything less reliable ? Geil have been around for a while and I was going to pick those sticks up myself, however I got 6GB of 1600MHz for £38 new so there was an obvious decision to be made. It says OEM on the title so I don't know how much that effects the price but they have good reviews on OCuk itself. Another thing to note is that RAM, especially high performance DDR3, isn't that dear once you go off Scan's website
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Re: Geil Ultra Series 4GB (2x2GB) PC3-17000

Bought them a few weeks ago, but yet to use them. It is OEM so it comes in a crappy anti static bag. They look solid tho.

I also am currently using GEIL Ultra DDR2, nothing wrong with them.

Excellent deal considering prices of any equivalent RAM is around +£20.
