dodgy twinmos ram

got 2 x256 of twinmos pc3200

probably is, not sure if it works, ive got 1 stick running ok (after a long time) my other stick my be b0rked tho....system beeps and dont boot when its pluged in as well

not sure if this is a dodgy ram slot or a dodgy stick of ram ??


is there anyway to test?



also, do twinmos come with a guarantee ? like crucial ? or not ?

If it was the dual kit and it's on an nForce2 based chipset it might not like it as TwinMOS warned not to use the dual kits on those boards ://

its not a dual kit, its just a matched pair i bought together, its not a special kit of any sort

Matched/ dual kits no difference (apart from dual kits they get mroe money for )
on your mobo set the voltage to 2.7 or 2.8 thatll give them a bit more power they might need it. Try different voltages and mroe importantly make sure the timings are not too tight. Twinmoss doesnt likee good timings so 2.5-3-3-7 or worse imo.

Also youd be helpfull if you can read the chips to see which manuf and which speed. When somethinig isnt compatable its not usually the pcb's fault (unless wrong SPD is programmed to it) more likely the chips dont like the speeds there told to run at.

there rated cas 2.5, and im running cas 2, could be a problem

also gonna raise the voltage to 2.8v, can htis damage them ? or does it need to be higher than that to cause poetential harm ? ta

I was gonna suggest voltage.

No, 2.8V won't kill it, it'll just make it hotter. Won't do any harm if you're just trying to get it going - prolonged overvolting is something to take care with.

well it was 2.77 normal, so i upped it to 2.9 with no avail

i tried it in the same slot as my other current stick which works, and it still didnt, even after setting it to cas 2.5 and 2.9v so is it dead? or could it be my mobo dont like it?
