It depends on the budget, but I'd go for the razer deathadder, best mouse I've used and can't see me replacing it for a while. I've got it paired with the Razer Goliathus Alpha Mouse Pad, Speed. Can recommend both, but then again I do like the razer stuff
ro55o, thanks for the quick reply
I have seen very good reviews on the deathadder but I have very big hands (is that a problem).
I am using a logitech MX600 at the moment
The budget is about right or maybe a little more if required.
As for mats, is there a difference in speed & control?

If you read that, it let's you know what mice (razer) best suit your grip. The deathadder suits a palm grip and from the comments of the people using it, it seems to suit bigger hands.
I'm not sure on the main differences between the speed and control mat.
Id say the deathadder is one of the best, my friend who is an extremely good gamer (17th in world, win) and he uses it, i gave it a try and loved it! However it is expensive and im currently using an OCZ behemoth mouse(£15 from OCUK, unfortunately) and its great reliable and performs well.
I had a sharkoon fireglider, awesome mouse aswell so it just depends what you prefer.
It's all down to the shape of your hand. (and wallet)
Logitech MX518 here.
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
Thanks for all the advice my only concern is the reliability of the Deathadder.
I can vouch for Razer, although I opted for the Copperhead. It's a very nice mouse and it's blue
Giagabyte GM-M6880 for £11. You carnt go wrong for that price if your looking for somthing simple and cheap.

thanks for the advice on the mouse, went with the deathadder and precision mat.
Will be with me tomorrow so will report back.
Razer FTW! I have the copperhead and my wife has the ProClick Logi's mouses are grade A but I like the look of the Razer stuff more
Theres an optical version with the same spec for £2 less if you want Iron Sights.
I only found mine when someone mentioned it awhile back and im pretty impressed for £10 it cost me.
