not really 'set' on getting crucial, thats just the kind of feed back i've been getting. i suppose it's mainly beed because i've made it clear i'm on quite a tight budget. however i looked at your links (as well as the practical advice ) and it got me thinking. it probably is worth spending that little bit extra for slightly bretter ram, and then getting some more later.
from what i've been told it appears that it is not essential to have 1 gig for over clocking (especially as i wont be going mad with it). correct me if im wrong ( ) but my priority should be with the quality of ram (ie. pc3500 over pc3500) rather than quantity (at this stage)?

    thank you

    Why not just get 2x512Mb?
It will still be dual channel & easier to overclock with 2 modules rather than 3 (which isn't officially supported on an NF7 anyway with PC3200 or higher).
That RAM is Cl3 albeit at 250fsb.

& Crucial is fine for what it is although it isn't an enthusiast's memory.
