OK, so when it comes to to their non-Enterprise drives, they aren't exaclty the fastest drives. However, when it comes to customer support these guys are spot on!
I've been having trouble with one of my SATA drives on a cold start. It's annoying because it's in a RAID array and crashes the OS on bootup.
I've been e-mailing Seagate going through various suggestions by them and have confirmed the problem to be down to one specific drive. The nature of the fault appears to be a fauly PCB, probably a bad trace that gives a poor contact when the drive isn't warm.
Anyway I just got off the phone with seagate (freecall number) querying them about a return drive for my RAID array. The lovely lady said they'd ensure that I got the same model drive back to ensure array compatability.
I've returned a drive before and it came back within 2 weeks of me sending it. That drive had to go to Norway, whereas this one is going to Coventry, where from there I don't know, however.
So, a big thumbs up to the level of support that Seagate provide!
