I don't know enough about specific products yet, but it seems clear Sandy Bridge really was the right choice!

Go for something like a core i5-2500 (non-k) and H67 based motherboard.
    8GB ram (2x4gb 1.5v)
A 2TB hard disk (or 2x1.5TB and RAID 1 if you want hardware failure protection)
Don't bother with a discrete graphics card at the moment.
Get the usual solid PSU, case to taste, windows 7 x64 etc.
Then see if you've got enough left over for an SSD.

Thank you! But I can't find where the thank system is on this site any more. Used to see it before. :=)

Bottom right under a users post.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

If you use the IGP Quick Sync can be enabled too.

was thinking, why not a discrete graphics card yet? Does it mean I have to get a mother board with graphics?

Nope, they're built into the processor now, and with that particular chip you (only) get access to various hard wired acceleration tricks if you use the CPU based graphics. At the moment, it looks very promising for performance in graphical tasks.

You need a higher constructive posts count. It'll appear later
