New build help!!!

Hey guys just built my PC tonight...

i5 2500k sandy
titan fenrir
GTX 480
700w PSU
Asus p86p67 mobo with bios 1103


now the problem is that when i boot up, first of all it starts then stops then starts up properly

2nd problem.. there are white flickering all over the screen as soon as it starts up properly and says f1 overclock failed, i have turned turbo off and also set the ram to 1600 MHZ and also 1300 to see if it was that.. the DRAM voltage is 1.5.. i have also tried one stick of ram and in different slots

any guesses?

screen flickering can be graphics card problem:
have you installed the drivers for your card that came with it
have you updated these?
do you have another graphics card you could swap in to see if that helps or not?

how do you mean? at what stage? can you give more details?

i cant get anywhere to even install the operating system because of the little white flickering...

basically when i press the power button it starts up for a few seconds then stops then starts up properly... but i have heard that this is an issue with the bios needing to be updated

Have you plugged in both the PCI-E power plugs into the graphics card?
Whenever something like this happens, it can be a good idea to unplug everything, then re-seat everything again. In doing so, only plug in the minimum required to get working (eg only 1 piece of RAM rather than all, no extra cards, no un-needed USB gubbins etc).

Yeah, im going to take it all apart after ive tried a different graphics card...also yeah ive made sure i have both PCI-E connectors into the graphics card..

found the problem, its the graphics card, the GTX480...damnit... now do i just RMA it or do i see if once ive installed the drivers and maybe reduce the clock see how it performs?

why would you? you paid for a fully working 480 i suppose O_o

Regarding the double start-up, I wouldn't worry about it. Many boards do it - some only when overclocking and others all the time. It's not necessarily a problem, it's just the way the board and/or BIOS was designed.
