ADSL router firmware?
I have a simple Conexant Mentor ADSL Router, and am looking for the latest firmware, but cannot find it anywhere. There doesn't seem to be a homepage for it and none of the manuals have any website addresses. I have no details on the router either apart from its called Mentor ADSL Router, with a usb connection and 4 port ethernet.

Ok I found this http://www.linden-computech.com/pc/adsl_mr4c.htm
That is the router, but still i cannot find any firmware updates, if any one knows where I can get them that would be great.

Always the way isn't it, I have managed to find the firmware update about 2 minutes after posting this, if any one would like the link its here
-
ok dont use that link above, i just updated it and the router never worked again. What a waste of money that was, off i go to buy a new one
-
Did you never hear of "edit" ? ;)
-
nope, i did think about it, but i always get confused what i wrote in the first place. lol, o btw never flash crap routers with new firmware :P
-
No, the cheapy routers are okay, it's just if you use the *wrong* firmware you'll have problems..

Been there, done that, bought new router ;)

lol, a fool like me, i like it :P
The swithc still works, just the routing bit, and cant view the routers settings obviously so kinad screwed, still works as a swithc though.

Ahh, better than mine then, the whole thing died, but then I've got a proper switch anyway..
/me pat's his new wireless combi adsl router thingy ;)
-
lol, suppose you dont know a way of forcing a firmware update thru usb to the device?
-
depends on the device. some you can use usb, some you can use a console cable, some you need an EEPROM programming tool.

These cheapo connexant jobbies are too cheap to have anything as advanced as that lol :D
My new one's got an rs232 console port though, but then it was 5 times the price..
-
lol, depressing how mine was £100
/me crys

*blink*
Good grief, you know they're pretty much the same as the cheap ones on ebuyer?
-
lol, lets not get into that.

I had the same problem with my router, tried updating the firmware and it stopped working. It still worked as a switch though, just wouldn't find the net. I also couldn't find the router settings page. However, I downloaded a firmware update that goes through windows to do the update (using dialup) and it also couldn't find a router. I then thought to disable the firewall I have on my comp and lo and behold it found the router. The routers address had somehow got changed. I was able to reflash the firmware and it works just fine now. Save me quite a few bucks. Maybe this will help!
