    Question ADSL router firmware?

I have a simple Conexant Mentor ADSL Router, and am looking for the latest firmware, but cannot find it anywhere. There doesn't seem to be a homepage for it and none of the manuals have any website addresses. I have no details on the router either apart from its called Mentor ADSL Router, with a usb connection and 4 port ethernet.

No, the cheapy routers are okay, it's just if you use the *wrong* firmware you'll have problems..

    I know - http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?threadid=863

depends on the device. some you can use usb, some you can use a console cable, some you need an EEPROM programming tool.

These cheapo connexant jobbies are too cheap to have anything as advanced as that lol

My new one's got an rs232 console port though, but then it was 5 times the price..

I had the same problem with my router, tried updating the firmware and it stopped working. It still worked as a switch though, just wouldn't find the net. I also couldn't find the router settings page. However, I downloaded a firmware update that goes through windows to do the update (using dialup) and it also couldn't find a router. I then thought to disable the firewall I have on my comp and lo and behold it found the router. The routers address had somehow got changed. I was able to reflash the firmware and it works just fine now. Save me quite a few bucks. Maybe this will help!
