    USB and CPU Heat???

    Hi all,
I've been having a problem with using my Soltek EQ3702's USB2 slots. There are only 2 at the back, one I use for my wireless desktop and the other I had plugged into a cheap usb 2 hub for my card reader/printer/scanne. Using it raises my CPU temps by 10 degrees, using the card reader on its own raises around 4-5. I have no idea why it would do this. Is there a general fault with nforce2s in this way or is my hub and reader (sandisk) at fault? I checked for background tasks and there are none. Am I advised to update my Nforce2 drivers or bios?
Please can anyone shed some light on this?

crappy USB2 drivers or something are putting your cpu under almost full load. The more work the cpu does the more energy it uses, meaning it puts out more heat = higher temperatures,

You should probably try different drivers however win2k already has usb2 drivers. I would assume your using windowsXP without the service pack, which has proper usb2 drivers and shoudl correct the problem assuming you havent got the service pack.

The cpu will never get hotter than the full load temp so if thats v v high like above 55c then id look at a different cpu cooler.

Nah I have full legit XP Pro (inc SP1 by default) (cost me a bundle) gonna try the latest nforce drivers see if they can improve it any. The CPU Usage history isn't bad, you can see me connecting the devices its around the same without.

Well seems to have raised temps without the usbs. As for a cooler, I use speedfan so when its at low load they are turned down. I don't mind having them up alot in games or heavy work, but web browsing shouldn't be that bad even with a printer/scanner/etc attached. Doesn't seem any than before its sitting at 50-51 degrees now, but I'm used to 41-44 whilst surfing, although I used to get 50-51 before with the usb hub in.
