    abit nf7 v2.0

    Hi
    I keep getting this error message when i restart my machine

    bios rom checksum error

    when i leave it off for 5mins or so it booys up ok

    anyone any ideas

    overheating i would guess? any of the components, or to be more precise the chips on the motherboard or even the RAM gettin hot?

    I am not sure if that is right but that would be the first thing I would check.

    nope, usually this is caused by a dead battery, leaving the pc on for a while would let it charge then u shouldnt get it agian, if they do charge im not sure about this.

    mobo batteries aren't rechargeable

    Hmm..... I've never had mine off for tat long since I bought it ....
    Oh wait thats a lie, it was off 20 mins transporting it to a lan

    Anyways, I had a friend that experianced this with an asus board.
    It rutened out to be a motherboard spacer that was causing the fault, there was a shortage somewhere along the line. Could be linked?
